Cases of word usage

1) all the people working a boat, ship or plane; all these except the officers (crew)

4) the skin of oranges, apples, bananas, potatoes etc; to take the skin off these (peel)

5) a flat-bottomed boat; many of these supporting a roadway over a river; a kind of card-game used for gambling (pontoon)

6) a form of prayer used in the RC Church; a string of beads used for counting these prayers (rosary)

7) a simple sea-animal with a body full of holes and able to absorb water easily; one of these or something similar, used for washing, cleaning etc; sponge-cake (sponge)

8) the process of sending pictures, usually with sound, using electrical waves; (also 'television set') an apparatus for receiving and showing these pictures (television)

9) a level(led) area of ground; a series of these separated by sloping banks as a method of irrigation on a hillside; a set of wide, shallow steps for spectators in a sports stadium (terrace)
