1) a person trained for competing in physical exercises and outdoor games e.g. a person who is good at running, jumping, swimming etc (athlete)

2) an outdoor game played with a bat and ball, by two teams of nine players each, on a large, diamond-shaped field (base balls)

3) an outdoor game played on horseback with long wooden hammers (polo)

4) an outdoor games for two teams with a bat and ball, the players running through four points (called bases) arranged in a square (rounders)
