Cases of word usage

1) the one on dice, playing-cards etc; card so marked (ace)

2) a person who one knows but not as well as a friend (acquaintance)

3) from one side to the other (across)

4) a device used to connect one or more electrical plugs to a socket (adapter)

5) an aircraft with one or more engines (aeroplane)

6) (of) a statement expressing 'Yes', agreement etc or one that is true, real etc as in 'The answer is (in the) affirmative (affirmative)

7) an idea, suggestion etc. that one things about when it is almost too late (afterthought)

8) like one another (alike)

9) the money (to be) paid by one person to another by a judge's order, after a legal separation or divorce (alimony)

10) and accusing statement, especially one made without proof (allegation)
