Cases of word usage

1) a compartment in a small plane for the pilot (cockpit)

2) a small division of a larger room walled or curtained to make a separate compartment e.g. for (un)dressing in a swimming-pool (cubicle)

3) (to cause a person, thing) to rise up; an electrical compartment in a building that moves up and down from one floor to another (lift)

4) free, protected, (from danger etc); unhurt and undamaged; not causing or likely to cause danger; a strong box or compartment with a special lock, in which money and other valuables are kept (safe)

5) to avoid giving (a person) a clear answer to a question, making a decision (in order to get more time); (of a car engine) to stop because of insufficient power or speed; a compartment for one animal in a stable or cattle shed (stall)
