1) a front part of a coat or jacket that is folded back and forms part of the collar (lapel)

3) to fasten (a person, thing) with string, rope etc; (also 'necktie') a band of material worn under the collar of a shirt and knotted in front; a long piece of rope etc used for fastening; something that keeps people united; an equal score in a game etc (tie)
