Cases of word usage

1) (of people, living creatures etc) belonging to, existing in, a region from earliest times, or from the time when the region was first known (aboriginal)

2) to make (something) shorter that was first planned (curtail)

3) an origin; a statement of how a world was formed and how it has changed (derivation)

4) to achieve what was wanted or hoped for (fruition)

5) to show that a person is or was involved (in doing something wrong) (implicate)

6) (an example of) the use of words (figure of speech) to express an idea by comparing one thing with another (without using 'like' and 'as'), to show a similarity, as in 'She was a feather' (i.e. weighed very little) 'in his arms' (metaphor)

7) a statement or conclusion that does not (seem to) have any connection to what was said or written before (nonsequitur)

8) to give up (an opinion, a belief) publicly; admit (a statement) was false (recant)

9) (to cause an event, account) to seem more romantic than it was (romanticize)

10) (in history) a person who worked on the land and was sold with it like a slave (serf)
