Cases of word usage

1) Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (a very dangerous disease passed into the blood through sexual intercourse, syringe needles already used by an infected person etc) (AIDS)

2) having plenty of fresh air moving through it (airy)

3) the repetition of the first sound or letter in a succession of words, e.g. safe and sound; through thick and thin (alliteration)

4) the low wall round a tower or castle with openings through which to shoot (battlements)

5) a small ball of coloured glass etc with a hole through it for a string or wire (bead)

6) the red liquid flowing through the body (blood)

7) a way forced through (barbed wire, defences etc) (breakthrough)

8) a fastener with one or more spikes made to go through a hole in a belt etc (buckle)

9) a hole through which a button is passed (buttonhole)

10) a length of wax with a string (wick) through it, used for giving light (candle)
