1) a part of a sentence that is not the subject or predicate (and can be omitted without making the sentence ungrammatical) such as 'with the red hair' in 'The boy with the red hair fell off his bike' (adjunct)
2) off the management of business or government affairs (administrative)

4) to cut off (e.g. and arm, a leg) by surgery (amputate)
5) to cut off the head of (a person) as a punishment (behead)
6) (to cause nuts) to become pale or white e.g. by taking off the skin of almonds (blanch)
