Cases of word usage

1) of two or more things that may be used, chosen etc in place of the other or others (alternative)

2) one of the twelve men chosen by Jesus to spread his teaching (apostle)

3) to settle a dispute (between two opposite sides, opinions etc) by acting as the chosen judge(s) (arbitrate)

4) a group of people appointed, elected or chosen to give advice, make rules, carry out plans, manage affairs etc, especially of government (council)

5) (used after a noun) chosen but not yet in office (elect)

6) a place made or chosen by a bird for its eggs; a place in which certain insects etc keep their young (nest)

7) which may be chosen or not as one wishes (optional)
