1) (in history) a heavy club with a metal head covered with spikes; a ceremonial rod carried by an official, e.g. a Mayor (mace)

2) the ceremonial chair of a king, queen, bishop etc; royal rank or authority (throne)

3) a ceremonial robe as worn by a priest in church (vestment)
