Cases of word usage

1) a summary of the facts of a law case prepared for a barrister (brief)

2) a flat case used e.g. by a business executive for papers etc (briefcase)

3) a metal tool with a rough surface, used for cutting or smoothing hard substances; any kind of folder, case etc used for keeping papers etc together (file)

4) to make an agreement with a business that promises to pay money in case of accident, damage, loss, death etc (insure)

5) a metal (often gold or silver) case for a portrait, a lock of hair etc, worn round the neck on a chain (locket)

6) (a shaped case of) meat or fruit covered with pastry and baked in a dish (pie)

7) a flat case used for keeping papers, documents, drawings etc; the position and duties of a minister of state; a list of securities and investments (stocks, shares etc) owned by a person, bank etc (portfolio)
