Cases of word usage

1) a bar or a rod on which a pair of wheels turn (axle)

2) a row of stone or wooden banisters with a bar on top, built round a balcony etc (balustrade)

3) a bar going across, e.g. joining the two posts of a goal in football etc or the front and back parts of a bicycle (crossbar)

4) a short bar with a metal ball at each end, used for exercising (dumbbell)

5) one of the pieces of wood (from wall to wall) to which floors are fastened; a steel bar supporting a floor or ceiling (joist)

6) a fastening for a door or gate, with a bar falling into a catch and being lifted by a small lever (latch)

8) a bar passed through the end of an axle to keep the wheel in position; a person who keeps a business, organization etc successful (linchpin)
